  • Marc S. Hartig,
    O.D.
    Optometrist

    Dr. Marc Hartig was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Grove City. After graduation from Grove City High School in 1988 he attended The Ohio State University. Dr. Hartig was granted early admittance into The Ohio State University College of Optometry after only three years of undergraduate work. While in optometry school, he completed two residencies; one at the Columbus Veteran's Hospital and one at the Chillicothe Veteran's Hospital. Dr. Hartig graduated from optometry school in 1995.

    Dr. Hartig enjoys the variety involved with practicing optometry in a private practice setting. He particularly enjoys implementing technological advances to increase the quality of care for his patients. Dr. Hartig has been trained and enjoys treating pathology of the eyes like conjunctivitis and glaucoma. He loves fitting bifocal contact lenses and co-managing refractive surgery. He regularly speaks to classrooms and civic organizations about the eyes and often employs optometry students or has them observing during eye examinations.

    Outside of his private practice, Dr. Hartig has served as an optometric consultant for the largest vision insurance company (Vision Service Plan) in the United States. He audited doctors all over the eastern half of The United States to assure quality of care and appropriate billing practices by member doctors. Dr. Hartig has also served as the Director of Optometry for Orient Correctional Complex. There, he oversaw inmate eye care and helped govern quality of care issues for the inmates.  

    Dr. Hartig is a member of several professional organizations including the American Optometric Association. On a local level, Dr. Hartig belongs to the Grove City Noon Lions Club. He is an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church as well. He enjoys coaching soccer for the GCKA and basketball for Grove City Parks and Recreation.  He resides in Grove City with his wife of twenty one years, Julie (VanBuskirk), and their two daughters, Lynsey and Erin.

  • Marie E. Schiff,
    O.D.
    Optometrist

    Dr. Marie Schiff received her Bachelor of Science degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio (1989) and her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University in 1993. Upon graduation, Dr. Schiff was selected to participate in a one-year residency program where she had specialized training in treating all kinds of eye diseases, infections and injuries, as well as fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Schiff has been a clinic instructor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry and at the Columbus V.A. Hospital. Dr. Schiff is very active in training students interested in optometry and in medical careers, and often has students working for her or observing during eye exams.

    Dr. Schiff has been in private practice since 1994.  Dr. Schiff has been chosen by many to be their family eye doctor because of her diverse expertise. She has been selected to participate in educational videos for cable TV and for local news stations such as Channel 4. Dr. Schiff lectures often to elementary and secondary students in educating them about the eye and the importance of eye safety. She also participates in career days at local schools.

    Dr. Schiff is active in various professional organizations and volunteer activities to promote eye care. She was voted by her colleagues to serve as governor for the local and state levels. While serving as governor, Dr. Schiff received special recognition by the Ohio Optometric Association for her leadership roles in community activities. She has volunteered her time at various charitable fund-raisers for The Ohio Optometric Association, Prevent Blindness of Ohio, Pilot Dogs and The Lion's Club. 

    Dr. Schiff is also involved with the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary in raising money for Special Olympics, Easter Seals and in supporting police officers and their families in times of need, as her husband and both of her brothers are police officers. Dr. Schiff is married to Todd Schiff, a 1988 graduate of Grove City High School. They live in Grove City and are active members of Bethel Lutheran Church. They have two amazing daughters (Alissa and Ava) who are very active in many activities throughout Grove City and central Ohio.

  • Chase R. Harter,
    O.D.
    Optometrist

    Dr. Chase Harter is a native of Willard in North Central Ohio. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He is familiar with Grove City as a past technician and optician at SouthWest Eyecare as a pre-optometry student. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2018 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN after spending time rotating through a private practice in Nashville, TN and the Baltimore VAMC in Maryland. Dr. Harter has served those in need within the United States and Colombia with Remote Area Medical and Student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH). He enjoys managing routine vision complaints and ocular disease across patients of all ages. He has been a member of local Lions Clubs for several years and is looking forward to being a part of the Grove City community. He has been an active member of the Arkansas Optometric Association and is a member of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Harter enjoys live music, spending time outdoors and cheering on Ohio's sports teams.

  • Carissa J. Janczak,
    O.D.
    Optometrist

    Dr. Carissa Janczak is a Grove City native and went to Bishop Ready High School. She attended the Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2019 and went on to further complete residency training specializing in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the Columbus and Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. She is Board Certified as a Diplomate member through the American Board of Optometry. Currently, she works full time as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the OSU College of Optometry and devotes herself to help train aspiring optometrists in the primary care setting as well as through the community outreach clinic. She is an active member of the Central Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is an avid coffee enthusiast and enjoys supporting local shops with Dr. Chase.

    Dr. Janczak worked at Southwest Eyecare previously as an optometric technician while in college and beginning optometry school. She is excited to be back in the office and to provide exceptional vision care to this great community alongside some awesome doctors and staff.
