Meet Dr. Hartig
Marc Hartig, OD
Dr. Marc Hartig was born in Grove City, Ohio and raised in Orient, Ohio. After graduation from Grove City High School in 1988 he attended The Ohio State University. Dr. Hartig was granted early admittance into The Ohio State University College of Optometry after only three years of undergraduate work. While in optometry school, he completed two residencies; one at the Columbus Veteran's Hospital and one at the Chillicothe Veteran's Hospital. Dr. Hartig graduated from optometry school in 1995.Dr. Hartig enjoys the variety involved with practicing optometry in a private practice setting. He particularly enjoys implementing technological advances to increase the quality of care for his patients. Dr. Hartig has been specially trained and enjoys treating pathology of the eyes like conjunctivitis and glaucoma. He loves fitting bifocal contact lenses and co-managing refractive surgery. He regularly speaks to classrooms and civic organizations about the eyes and often employs optometry students or has them observing during eye examinations.
Outside of his private practice, Dr. Hartig serves as an optometric consultant for the largest vision insurance company (Vision Service Plan) in the United States. He audits doctors all over the eastern half of the country to assure quality of care and appropriate billing practices by member doctors. Dr. Hartig also serves as the Director of Optometry for Orient Correctional Complex. There, he oversees inmate eye care and helps govern quality of care issues for the inmates.
Dr. Hartig is a member of several professional organizations including the American Optometric Association. On a local level, Dr. Hartig belongs to the Grove City Chamber of Commerce and the Grove City Noon Lions Club. He is an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church as well. Dr. Hartig enjoys sports, (especially soccer) camping, computers and photography. He resides in Grove City with his wife, Julie, and two daughters, Lynsey and Erin.
